THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING Oil on canvas, 35 x 46 cm
Jackie paints contemporary landscapes and abstracts. She loves the out of doors and to bring the atmosphere and beauty of the natural world into people’s homes. One painting on the wall of a home brings the outside environment inside and the room comes to life. The viewer is able to share in her experience.
Large paintings include work inspired by Cornwall and the Greek Islands as well as the beautiful area around Richmond where she lives. ‘Night on Richmond Hill’ was created on the hottest night ever recorded, the moon shining on the Hill. ‘The First Day of Spring’ was painted from an oil sketch in Kew Gardens, and while painting Jackie realised that it was the first day of spring!
She mainly works from drawings and oil sketches done in the open air.
Jackie is a graduate of Camberwell College of Arts, London. After a successful career in media and publishing management she is now a full time artist, based at Kew Studio.
